About Us
Crafting Masterpieces, One Backyard at a Time
Founded in 2023 by Travis Simpkins and Chris Jensen, Liquid Canvas Designs was built on a shared vision — to redefine what it means to build a pool in Houston. With decades of combined experience across pool design, construction, and project management, our mission is simple yet bold:
“We build dope pools for dope people.”
At Liquid Canvas Designs, we believe your backyard should be more than a space — it should be an experience. Our team specializes in custom pool design and construction, pool remodeling and renovation, and complete outdoor living transformations that turn everyday backyards into luxurious personal retreats.

Our Story: How It All Began
Chris, with over 12 years of experience managing multimillion-dollar projects in oil, gas, and real estate, adds a foundation of business acumen and construction excellence. Together, they founded Liquid Canvas Designs out of frustration with an industry that too often overlooked customer experience.
They knew homeowners deserved better — premium quality pools, honest communication, and genuine value at every stage. That’s what Liquid Canvas Designs delivers.
Why Homeowners Across Houston Choose Us
What sets us apart is our direct involvement, no-template approach, and unwavering commitment to quality. We don’t hand off projects to multiple departments — Travis and Chris personally oversee each stage, ensuring clear communication and superior craftsmanship from start to finish.
Every pool we build is a one-of-a-kind creation. No templates. No shortcuts. Just pure, customized excellence designed for your lifestyle.
We proudly serve homeowners across the entire Houston metro area, helping them bring their dream backyards to life with creativity, precision, and heart.
We are proud to be a PHTA-Certified Pool Builder / Build & Design Professional, a credential that brings meaningful assurance and value to every project we undertake.
What Does “PHTA Certified” Mean — and Why It Matters
The Gold Standard in Pool Construction
The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is the leading industry organization dedicated to elevating safety, education, standards, and professionalism in the pool and spa sector. As part of its mission, PHTA administers a Build & Design Certification Pathway, which includes multiple levels of credentialing in pool construction, hydraulics, safety, design, and business practices. When a firm or individual earns PHTA certification (such as Certified Builder Professional, Advanced, Expert, up to Master), it signals third-party validation that they understand not just how to build a pool, but why — including the technical, safety, structural, and regulatory considerations.
